It may feel like

I love her, she’s like magic’s child born into a woman

The girl you love is her own baby

She won’t always be nice but she’ll always be kind

You’ll see it in her generous smile

There’ll be little disappointment in hearing her well-practised, “No”

When you remember how long it took her to trust herself

How she used to need company when she didn’t know

How to hold her own hand

She’s a summer girl who loves the lingering tastes of winter fruits

She says it reminds her of something close to truth

You might say she has touched too many hands

You’ll learn she doesn’t bear down when she loves

No heavy thought to tether her into destruction, only ease

You’ll ask yourself how long you can keep coming back to her

Almost always, the answer will be for all of eternity

This being, this voice, this sway

These hands and all the shared kisses

Will be yours as long as you can hold them

She’s a woman obsessed with the sun – its warmth

Or perhaps the way it decorates her skin with decadent browns

She’s a summer girl who wants nothing more

Than to share all her mind’s flowers with you
